An online publication by Hannah Ritchie in 2022 reported that humans (34%) plus their livestock (62%) make up 96% of the biomass of all the world’s mammals. Wild mammal biomass has declined by 85%. And poultry raised by humans (71% of bird biomass) is way more than double the biomass of wild birds (29%). When walking in wild places, photographers thrill to encounter the wild creatures that remain.
