An online publication by Hannah Ritchie in 2022 reported that poultry raised by humans is way more than double the biomass of all the world’s wild birds. Poultry account for 71% of the world’s bird biomass compared to 29% for wild birds . When walking in wild places, photographers thrill to encounter the wild creatures that remain. These are some of the birds I’ve encountered in southwest Colorado in nest watch projects with the Weminuche Audubon Society of Pagosa Springs, or on hikes. Some of these images are available in the Print Shop.
